Empty autocompletion list of usernames

Here is what I just witnessed on the app:

Reloading it solved the problem.

Do we understand what went wrong, and can we code a more robust fetching system to avoid the problem?

Totally understandable that a request fails, but the app should cope with it and request again.

Difficult to say without seeing the browser console log, but issue https://git.happy-dev.fr/startinblox/components/sib-chat/issues/125 disrupts the handling of groupchat room occupants and could be the reason.

Let me see if I can reproduce it to investigate

I've just had the problem again. Logs from the JS console. Switching from one chat to another refilled the list.

I have just faced that one again. I had to log out and log in again to get it back.

@rachel I raise its priority as I believe it is really not cool for the end user.

@alexandre Can ypu please confirm if you are still getting this issue after we switched to fullscreen mode and if you are, can you also confirm if the list is still empty if you click again on the circle name on the left hand side.

I am struggling to replicate it.

It is. That is why I didn't think of it at first and assumed a complete empty list until I saw the screenshot :-)

@alexandre It looks like on your very first screenshot you only had one suggestion and you mentioned that login out and in again solved the problem. From the recent discussion here I understand there was a config issue: but I'm confused how could a log in / log out can "fix" this... Was there two different issues?

After a chat with @jbpasquier it appears that login log out can fix the issue as the default setting can be fetched again when login back in. Closing this issue for now, and we will reopen it if we see it is not yet fixed by the default value.

Thanks @rachel. I am going to park this issue (and move to the next one in my priority list) until I get a new occurrence with some more context and if possible, a screenshot of the browser console log on the left hand side when the partial list occurs.

It seems from the screenshot that we are seeing a list of circle joiners who are currently online instead of everyone.

Indeed, that was me.

I'm closing this issue as all reports I have with empty autocompletion list are linked to https://git.startinblox.com/applications/sib-app/issues/434 If we still have problems with members' list we should open a new issue. This issue is becoming too hard to follow: the title describe one problems, the comments 2 others... which includes discussion in threads I'm declaring this one buried
