Notification does not change to "read" status when I don't move to anothe page

What's happening?

When I'm in a one2one chat and somebody post a message when the window is not active, I see a notification in several places : on the browser bar, on the bell and on the person name in "messages" menu. But even if I have read the message the notification does not disappear. It stays displayed until I switch to another page and then come back here.

I would expect the notification to disappear 3 or 4 seconds after the page has been shown.
