I don't understand why. They are two different things. Using only one field could lead to blocking situations if users want to have a different one. Furthermore, in the FOAF ontology we're using, they're two different things.

I am not saying we should use the same field for both. Just that automatically generating a new value the end user probably won't remember is not smart and will create confusion.

Advanced users can still take control other the JID field and edit it the way they want, I am in line with that

I think I get what you mean. But the Jid has to end with happy-dev.fr, any email would not work.

Indeed. I assumed here that the users would have an @happy-dev.fr email.
